August 2020

August, where did you go? What a fast month!

AUGUST 1: Started the month off by attending my cousin Scotty’s wedding in San Diego.

AUGUST 7: Not sure what I was walking to in my neighborhood that morning, but I took pictures!

AUGUST 9: First in person church since March! We followed the rules! Was a good chance to check on what’s goin on in the Village.

AUGUST 11: Practiced using the timer on my M and then was the Sheriff of Dad’s birthday party. What a turn out we had!

AUGUST 13: I’m sparing you a lot of food photos, but I feel it’s worth posting that I made these dumplings. Filled and pinched them myself!

AUGUST 15: My local library has not reopened, BUT one in the Bronx has, so that’s where I hike to now to pick up my books. Here’s one of my hikes!

AUGUST 22: A visitor! I wonder if we used to know each other. Also, I’ve been working on burgers.

AUGUST 23: I had gotten a great deal on a 90mm lens from this guy:

And I took it with me to church to try out after. And then after those few pictures I’ve added all sorts of 90mm test shots from around the house.

AUGUST 26: Took a big important trip to the Bronx Zoo. It’s getting it’s own post. BUT on my way home I walked through the Little Italy of the Bronx for the first time on my way to my Bronx library to do a drop off/pick up.

July 2020: A Little More Exciting than June

July 4: Well the month certainly started off with a bang…I mean people had been setting off fireworks all night for weeks, but on the 4th they really went for it.

July 8: A big thing about July was the baby pigeons on my fire escape. They were getting bigger and bigger right before my eyes. I borrowed a telephoto lens from Ned to try to get a better look at them.

July 14

See? They look closer, right?

Momentous Occasion: I take my first subway ride in 4 months. I go downtown to make some big returns and check on the old China Town/Little Italy/Soho/Nolita/West Village situation. Really didn’t seem super different. I think I missed the part where New York looked empty and abandoned.

Back then I thought it was a big deal I hadn’t shaved for four months or had a haircut for five months but now I write this in August with a month more growth on both and think it’s all so quaint.

July 21

Bigger and bigger.

I went up Inwood Hill with Ned to see that comet. We saw it.

July 23: Another trip downtown to do a bunch of errands that didn’t really work out BUT I got out of the house and had my first Sweetgreens since the Saturday when I saw Little Women with Heather a real long time ago.

July 25: My preferred neighborhood Chinese take-out place has reopened.
